Treadmill Pads Can Save Your Expensive Flooring From Damage

By Mike Long

In a fast-paced, high-stress world, it's so easy to let our physical health go, and one day find ourselves horribly overweight and grossly out of shape. At first, you may not be able to do a lot of exercises, but walking or very light jogging is still one of the foundations of a quality exercise program. You can get your walking in either outdoors or at home, whichever suits you. If walking inside your home is your preference, then a treadmill will suit your needs perfectly. Keep in mind though, that you also want a good treadmill pad under it to protect your floors from damage.

Even though you might not notice it at first, the fact remains that these kinds of machines take a pounding from you using them, and they transmit a lot of weight and vibration down to your floor. Without some kind of protection, your floor is in danger of being slowly damaged over time.

Don't forget that in addition to the vibration and small movements of the treadmill due to usage, that exercise equipment like this is also full of moving parts, requiring things like grease to function properly. Not only can small amount of grease seep out onto your floor, but particularly if the treadmill rests on a carpet surface, those tiny little fibers can get into the treadmill, mix with the grease, and shorten the life of the unit.

A treadmill mat prevents all of these problems. It will no longer be in direct contact with the floor, eliminating any potential vibration issues. Also, it will be much more difficult for small carpet fibers to enter the machine at any point. This will dramatically extend the life of both the treadmill, and the quality flooring underneath it!

The pricing of these accessories will also vary according to different factors: thickness, size or area, and the material of the pad. Generally, the thicker the pad is, the higher the price. A standard pad usually measures around 6.5 feet by 3 feet, and measures about 1/4 of an inch in thickness.

These are usually priced from $35 to $50. Of course, a buyer will have to adjust depending on the size of the treadmill being used, and the frequency of exercise. Larger treadmills may require a pad of about 7 feet, and more frequent exercises will want to invest in a thicker pad (about 3/8 of an inch thickness), which would only cost about $10 to $20 more.

A treadmill pad is an investment which is invaluable to any treadmill owner. The price one will pay to acquire an accessory is a small amount compared to the value youll be getting by being able to extend the life of your machine and protect your floor. This is truly a must-have accessory for any treadmill user.
